When you are visiting Thailand for the first time, you will need to ensure you experience one of the many types of massages that are available. Massage is an intrinsic part of Thai culture, which is why you will see massage shops dotted all over the place. There are many different forms of massage available, and below are some of the best ones you may want to try when you visit Thailand for the first time.
A Hot Stone Massage
A hot stone massage is an excellent way to relax, and it can also have many benefits for your body. Hot stones are heated between 130 and 145 degrees and placed on strategic points of your body. The hot stones can be placed on any of the following areas:
- Stomach
- Face
- Chest
- Feet
- Hands
- Spine
You will also receive a massage which is like a Swedish massage, and you will feel relaxed and rejuvenated when you are done.
A Traditional Thai Massage
If you are travelling all the way to Thailand and having a massage, you will want to try a traditional Thai massage. A Thai massage will work on trigger points throughout your body as the technique is based on reflexology. A Thai massage can sometimes feel brutal when you have it, but you will notice how good you are feeling a few hours after finishing your massage, and it can be very beneficial for your health.
A Hot Oil Massage
Another style of massage you may want to try while in Thailand and is much gentler than a Thai massage is a hot oil massage. They use a blend of aromatic oils that are heated up and rubbed into the skin while receiving a massage. The skin will soak up the oils used while they are rubbed into your skin, and you receive deep tissue stimulation, and you will be left feeling relaxed and invigorated when you finish.
A Foot Massage
A foot massage is one of the most popular ones throughout Thailand, and you will see many people enjoying one as you wander around the streets and markets of the country. It also uses reflexology, and the masseuse will work on trigger points on your feet that are said to be linked to other parts of your body. It will certainly get the blood flowing in your lower legs, and it is an excellent way to relax after a hard day of wandering around the many sights that Thailand has to offer.
